Vera Wang debuted her Spring 2014 collection at the Stage at Lincoln Center on Tuesday (September 10), and it was sheer genius — quite literally, we might add.
The presentation opened with an array of black dresses parading down the runway. Essentially reinventing the classic LBD, each one was carefully constructed with light-as-air fabrics, strategically placed sheer paneling and dangerously low open backs.
Working to combine sporty chic with full on glam — as only she can — Wang paired slouchy see-through track jackets with portions of the after-hours attire, which made for a delightful, yet unexpected juxtaposition.
While the majority of the offering was grounded in black, pops of brilliant color were present throughout. Cobalt blue reigned supreme, while shades of red and yellow saturated the sartorial scene as well.
The models’ cosmetic look was kept simple — minimal makeup and slicked back strands held with a single headband helped to keep the focus on the artistry of the clothes themselves.
