We know — keeping up with all the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week happenings is a fete! To help you out, we’re compiling the most news-worthy stories each day.
So what’d you miss on opening day? BCBGMAXAZRIA’s Spring 2014 collection for one! The line took traditional ladylike silhouettes and gave them a major style overhaul. Cotton twills and flyaway georgettes seduced our sartorial palettes, while abstract watercolor prints, sheer detailing, and intricate embroidery added the touch of femininity we crave from womenswear. The end result? Incredibly fresh and flirty pieces that boast a bit of modern edge. Fashionistas including Heidi Klum, Giuliana Rancic, and Nina Garcia sat front row and gave the line their stamp of approval — and we know why.
Next up was Nicholas K. The brother and sister design team created a boho-meets-utilitarian collection that’s completely wearable and perfect for layering in the spring season. (Take note now — layers are going to be big!)
In another tent, Richard Chai debuted a relaxed version of spring sophistication. The designer showed preppy pieces in less-structured silhouettes that, from head to hem, were totally lust-worthy.
But when it comes to dainty and feminine, Tadashi Shoji's Spring 2014 collection takes the cake. The designer’s latest pastel-infused line delivered romantic looks with ladylike silhouettes. From form-fitting minis to flowing gowns, dresses dominated the runway in lace and neoprene.
Of course, there was no shortage of celebrity sightings at NYFW. We got to hob nob backstage with the Jonas Brothers and bumped into the dashing and dapper Nick Cannon who shared some exclusive style advice. Click on the video below to listen in and catch up with all you missed from Day 1.
Happy Fashion Week!
