J.Crew’s Spring 2014 showing presented pretty florals, pops of color and wearable, flattering cuts. While it may sound reminiscent of the old, the detailing and styling was tweaked to create something totally new.
The brand debuted their collection on Tuesday (September 10) in front of an A-list audience. Instead of a runway, models posed against a white background for eager shutterbugs who took to their social media accounts to voice their praise (and flat out obsession) for the line.
Tom Mora, head of women’s design for J.Crew, said he drew inspiration from the California surfer lifestyle paired against the romantic Venetian coast. The end result? New proportions, energetic colors and, modern fabrics. One of our favorite looks was a sequenced tea party-length skirt paired with a casual “Aloha” t-shirt, and of course, accessorized with a statement clutch and matching stilettos.
Models sported textured waves by Bumble & Bumble, which is J.Crew’s signature catalog hairstyle. You can get the look at home by blow drying your hair straight with Bumble & Bumble Thickening Spray, using a medium-size curling iron to put loose waves in the ends below the ears only, softening the waves using your fingers and Elnett Extra-Hold Hairspray. Seal the deal with a very small amount of Keihl’s Crème With Silk Groom to smooth from the roots to the ears.
