Does the thought of undergoing a cosmetic procedure leave you with more questions than answers? Do uncertainties like is too early to start, is it too risky, are my expectations realistic, and will it fit in my budget plague your decision? You're not alone.
To give (or get, rather) good face, knowing the facts is essential, that's why we caught up with double Board Certified surgeon and ZendyBeauty founder Dr. Vish Banthia.
From the website's discounted patient-to-provider cosmetic services to how young is too young start corrective aging measures, Dr. Banthia covered it all.
How exactly does ZendyBeauty work?:
Every now and then, providers may have available appointment slots. Rather than leaving these slots unfilled, providers would rather accept a lower-than-retail offer for their services. Members get an amazing deal on a cosmetic procedure while providers have the opportunity to fill up their schedule.
What are the screening procedures companies go through to be included on ZendyBeauty?
We ensure that a provider that's listed is Board Certified or supervised by a Board Certified medical director. We don't include the casual MedSpa that's offering really cheap prices and services, and where there's no quality assurance in terms of where they are getting products. Additionally, providers must have an average of four stars or higher on several healthcare-related rating sites, be using FDA-approved products, and have performed a certain number of procedures to be an eligible Board Certified provider on ZendyBeauty.
What’s the most popular procedure sought out on the site?
Botox is really popular as are fillers and microdermabrasions. There's also non-surgical fat reduction offers for CoolSculpting and Ultherapy, which is a non-surgical face lift procedure.
Can you tell us more about this non-surgial face lift?:
Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to lift underlying tissues. It is FDA-approved for both brow and face lifts. There's no down time and it takes between an hour and an hour-and-a-half to complete. Most patients choose this procedure to improve their neck. It's a good non-surgical option for those who are busy, or for those who are looking for maintenance in their 40s and 50s.
What is the a difference between Botox and filler?
Botox is a type of watery liquid that helps to minimize muscle motion, which helps to minimize wrinkling. Filler is a thicker substance that actually does what the name implies, fills an area up with volume. We lose volume over time, it's a natural process of aging. Filler is most common in the smile lines and in our lips, while Botox helps with fine lines in the forehead and crow's feet.
When is "too young" for Botox?
Most of my patients who want Botox are in their early-to-mid 30s, all the way up to their 70s. It's rare to have a patient in their 20s, even though some may want it. However, as a physician, I would not feel comfortable if my patient were any younger [than their 30s]. Ultimately, it's a personal choice and it's up to each patient and provider.
Is it best to start treatment at the first sign of a line?
It depends where the line is. If you see a line on the forehead or crow's feet area, the best way to prevent them from getting deeper is with the use of Botox. However, there are other ways to address fine lines. I would look at the individual's age and skin type and start with a more conservative measure like their skincare regimen. Microdermabrasions are an extremely effective way to improve and maintain skin as are other laser technologies, which can help build up collagen.
How can you slim down your waistline without going under the knife?
Two really good options for non-surgical fat reduction are CoolScultping and Liposonix®. Coolsculpting is a non-downtime, sans-recovery-period procedure. The provider attaches a suction-like applicator on the treatment area and you sit their for 45 minutes. No one can tell you the amount of fat reduction, but the results are there. Liposonix uses focused ultrasound beams to melt away your fat.
