Skin Shocker: 4 Daily Habits You Never Knew Were Causing Pre-Mature Aging

It’s no secret that refraining from smoking, avoiding stress, wearing SPF, and eating healthy will help to prevent the signs of pre-mature aging.
However, did you know that certain tasks performed on the daily contribute to fine lines and wrinkles as well? Sad — but true.
It’s important to remember that none of these will cause any immediate derma drama. Instead, it’s the prolonged use and habitual repetitions of such practices that will encourage unwanted wear and tear.
Read on to discover the four ways you’re contributing to the aging process. You're probably guilty of at least two today already!
Using your smart phone. According to a study conducted by mobile phone provider O2, the average person utilizes his or her cell 119 minutes a day — that’s nearly two hours! So, what’s the problem with that? Well, other than appearing socially recluse; when we read texts, articles or emails on our phones, we tend to squint our eyes, which in turn causes crow’s feet. Looking down at our device could bring on turkey neck and dirty screens held against ones face can cause acne. To help offset these consequences, experts suggest you up the brightness on your phone and swipe its screen with an alcohol swab at the end of every day.
Drinking from a straw. The pucker that naturally forms when you suck out of a straw can instigate the formation of fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth. Sure, for this to happen you’d have to be drinking from a lot of straws — but we don’t want to take our chances. We’ll stick to drinking from a glass the old fashion way.
Chewing gum. Trident junkies everywhere just gasped — say it isn’t so! Unfortunately, it’s true. Just like with a straw, the repeated motion one makes with his or her mouth while indulging in a winterfresh experience can cause some stress on the muscles around the mouth. This leads to less elasticity and more wrinkles.
Sleeping. We’re not suggesting you start pulling all-nighters. Instead, simply pay attention to the position in which you snooze. Sleeping on your side can cause wrinkles on your chin, cheeks and chest, while catching Z’s on your belly can increase the aging process on your forehead. So, what’s the best way to sleep? On your back. You could also invest in a silk pillow case, as the texture allows skin to glide off its surface — lessening your chance for developing fine lines.
