Style Guide: How to Wear Your Summer Pieces This Fall
Air conditioner off, air conditioner on. Yep, it’s transition time!
Seemingly one of the hardest times of the year to figure out what to wear, it’s really just an opportunity to sport your summer faves and some of your new fall goodies at the same time!
We swear, it’s easy. Think layering — sweaters, jackets, leggings — and boots.
Piece of cake!
Look 1: For us, fall means one thing: leather! A leather harness or jacket and some leather boots will easily take a lightweight shirtdress into fall. Shown here: Anagram sleeveless shirtdress, Gary Graham leather harness, n.d.c. Megan tall heeled boot.
Look 2: Shorts in the fall? Why not? They present the perfect opportunity to break out that chunky cashmere cardigan you’ve been dying to wear since you packed it up in the spring. Shown here: Rachel Comey Vendor high-waisted shorts, Demylee Josie shaker cardigan.
Look 3: You know that old rule that says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? As my mother would say, Pshaw! Add a cropped jacket and some tights or boots to a little white sundress and it is instantly fall appropriate. Shown here: Anagram striped shirting dress, Anagram twill cropped jacket.
Look 4: Leggings are another great way to take a summer dress into fall. We’re partial (read: addicted) to the ones from Humanoid and Gary Graham. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Sooo good. Shown here: Rachel Comey Julep dress, Rachel Comey Boyer slipper.
We are also big fans of layering under things — a long sleeve tee or button-up are perfect transition items. And always keep a scarf in your purse. Okay, that’s it. Now, go transition!
