He made a large donation to L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts for a two-year modernization project, but Ralph Lauren isn’t feeling any love from the professors and students of the Parisian institution.
Last week, Lauren took over the venue for his extensive runway show, which forced the closing of all workshops for a three-day period.
And despite the $1.5 million grant, the faculty started a petition to demand that L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts no longer accept “requests with non-education motives.”
Sculpture professor Emmanuel Saulnier explained, "The school does not belong to Ralph Lauren…We are artists and we are not in a society venue.”
