Monday’s (October 28) Google landing page paid tribute to an iconic and very influential woman in the fashion industry — Edith Head.
The costume designer, who would have been 116-years-old, was remembered by way of six glorious sketches of models donning classic silhouettes with Head herself standing in the forefront.
Edith is best known for her work in films like Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo,” “Birds,” and “Rear Window.” Her creations can also be seen in “Roman Holiday,” “Sabrina,” and the ever-so-popular “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
To this day, Head holds the record for the most Academy Awards won by an individual woman (Huh, you learn something new every day …). So, when you go to type in your next Google search this evening, say a little thank you to the woman whose famous designs are still influencing the way we dress.
