Condé Nast Cuts Internship Program Following Lawsuit

It’s been a great way to “get your foot in the door” at some of the hottest fashion publications in the world, but sadly Condé Nast’s internship department is closing its doors.
Slated to end in 2014, the program has been scrapped due to two lawsuits from former interns at W and The New Yorker that both claim workers were paid sub-minimum wages during their employment.
And while the decision is a huge disappointment to up-and-coming fashion journalists, it also makes things more complicated for Condé Nast as now the intern-delegated duties will have to be performed by full-fledged workers with much higher salaries.
Both lawsuits are still pending, but based on the outcome it’s likely other companies will be tempted to follow suit.
