It’s no secret that there’s all kinds of knock-off goods floating around the fashion merchandising realm, but usually it’s crooks that rip off the designers’ ideas.

However, there’s a new lawsuit against Chanel that claims they’ve counterfeited a white crochet pattern that originated with a company called World Tricot.

Chanel is being ordered to hand over approximately $258,000 to World Tricot for breach of contract as well as counterfeiting. While the decision was initially overturned, a Paris court has reversed that verdict and slapped Chanel with the bill once again.

Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel Fashion president told press, “This is the first time that we have faced this type of situation, although we work with close to 400 suppliers. This very specific case is in no way reflection of the quality of our relations with our suppliers.”
