With Earth Day just around the corner (April 22nd), some of our favorite beauty labels are gearing up to love Mother Earth.

One of the big philanthropic programs comes from Josie Maran, who is donating 10% of the purchase price of their 100% Pure Argan Oil to a charity chosen by models Petra Nemcova and Angela Lindvall.

Maran explained, “We work with Fair Trade women’s cooperatives in Morocco to produce [argan oil]. The co-ops are dedicated to responsible harvesting practices and reforestation projects, which help preserve the argan nut forests and women’s jobs. These programs provide rural Moroccan women with the sense of empowerment that comes from steady income, a fair wage, good working conditions, as well as literacy and other education classes.”

Meanwhile, Bond No. 9 just launched a new fragrance under the moniker ‘I Love Earth Day’ and proceeds from the sales will be donated to New York State’s Empire State Development.

Founder Laurice Rahme noted, “We are still a small company, so to us it’s more about awareness. We have a global appeal to young customers and the young population is very earth sensitive. This is the beginning of the future and a greater consciousness of the consumer.”

Other companies sponsoring similar initiatives include Kiehl’s, Aveda, Yves Rocher, and Phyto.
