Women everywhere have fallen in love with the tiered ponytail — including Heidi Klum.
The blonde bombshell rocked fall’s hottest look to the 65th Annual Emmy Awards and she’s not the only celeb swooning over the sexy, bubbled style.
Blake Lively and Olivia Wilde have also been spotted donning the dramatic look. Need any more convincing to try it out? We didn’t think so. To master this voluminous updo at home, follow the simple steps below.
Tip: Experts say it’s best to work with second-day hair.
What you'll need:
- 3 – 5 Hair ties (good to have extras)
- Bobby pins
- A comb
- A round barrel brush
- Curing iron
- Hair spray
Step 1: Comb hair back, as if you were brushing it into a ponytail.
Step 2: Divide your strands into two sections, drawing up from the ear for the top half, and down to create the bottom half.
Step 3: Working with the top half first, backcomb your hair towards the crown of your head. Teasing gives texture!
Step 4: Form a ponytail by smoothing the teased hair with a big, round brush. Secure with a clear elastic hair tie.
Step 5: Take the longest piece from the pony, twist it, and wrap around the base of the ponytail. Secure with a bobby pin.
Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5 to bottom portion of hair.
Step 7: Now, backcomb each of the ponytails to give their “bubbles” volume.
Step 8: Connect the two ponytails in the middle of your head and conceal with a clear elastic tie and conceal by wrapping another piece of hair around the band.
Step 9: Using bobby pins, secure the inner parts of the ponytails to your head to keep the style close to your scalp like Heidi’s.
Step 10 (Optional): Curl the bottom pieces of your ponytail to create some dramatic flips!
