Carine Roitfeld on How She Really Feels About Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has a lot of celebrating to do. She just gave birth to beautiful North West, debuted her post-baby bod on Instagram in a pic that garnered lots feedback (both negative and positive), celebrated her 33rd birthday and got engaged to her beau Kanye West the same day via a jumbotron in front of family and friends.
Add to that: A dream endorsement from CR Fashion Book editor-in-chief, Carine Roitfeld.
Remember the Karl Lagerfeld-shot spread where Kim had jam splattered on her face? (Yeah, how could you forget.) Roitfeld has not only come to Kim’s defense about her decision to feature the reality star on the cover of the CR Fashion Book, but also compared her to the iconic Marilyn Monroe.
“First of all she’s beautiful — and in fashion, that is a talent, you know. She was also a very sweet person, a hard worker. You don’t see her in parties drinking loads of alcohol,” said Roitfeld. “She’s controversial, but so was Marilyn Monroe and I always like controversial people. I hope the issue will be a good souvenir for her and her baby.”
Furthermore, Roitfeld appreciated Kim’s humble attitude. “She had one guy for hair, one guy for make-up – no extensions or lashes – and for her it must have been like being naked, and she accepted everything,” she said. “I don’t think normally she would wear those sort of clothes – I’ve never seen her in a Comme des Garcons jumpsuit or a basketball jacket, but she said yes to everything. She was the easiest model we’ve had. And when we put a mask on her face, she didn’t say anything.”
Controversial? Yes, but we’d say it’s a fair assessment.
