Must See: Cara Delevingne & Karl Lagerfeld Close Out Chanel Haute Couture Show

We’re not sure which is more attention grabbing: Cara Delevingne or Chanel. So when Delevingne received the biggest honor at the Chanel Haute Couture runway show in Paris Tuesday (January 21) — that being, to close the collection — we were sartorially speaking, consumed.

The 21-year-old model topped off the Grand Palais spectacle by walking out hand-in-hand with Karl Lagerfeld and toddler, Brad Keening. The setting played off a white wedding theme with Cara as the bride, Karl as the groom, and Brad as the ring bearer.

The arena featured a double-curved staircase and a 12-piece live orchestra led by French musician, Sébastien Tellier. The audience made themselves at home in comfortable couches that replaced traditional bleacher seats.

As for the clothes, the palette was comprised of whites and pastels, with an emphasis on sparkles and sorbet pinks. Fabrics were dominated by tweed and sheer varieties, all intricately adorned with distinguished detail. Woven throughout the line was an emphasis on the waist, by means of an updated crop top featuring skin-tight fabric placed at the midriff.

We give Lagerfeld major credit for creating this look, as it lends a slimming, textured effect without revealing any skin. (Perfect for sophistication in the city, if you ask us.) Yet, not to be overlooked was the presence of sneakers, which models wore with even the most intricate of dresses. When merged with a wedding the footwear choice felt a little off beat, but considering they were designed by Karl, the kicks are well deserving of a second chance.

Beauty looks were kept simple in all-out neutral tones, with the exception of Chanel’s signature blue eyeliner. Hair was styled in a fringed up, feathered ‘do, creating an exotic allusion.
