Need a Beauty Pick-Me-Up? Try Makeup Vending Machine

L’Oreal Paris is digging deep to find the next beauty breakthrough — so deep, they’ve landed underground.
From November 4 to the end of December, the Blake-Lively approved brand will offer interactive vending machines in New York City’s Bryant Park subway station. The system, dubbed “Intelligent Color Experience,” features full-length mirrors and a high-tech vending machine filled with beauty products from L’Oréal’s Colour Riche collection.
On Wednesday (October 30), Coco Rocha tested out the high-tech makeup apparatus in front of a group of pro beauty editors (including ourselves). After stepping in front of the mirror, digital animations showed possible makeup combinations popped up next to her image, all of which she could instantly buy like candy.
“The MTA is very pleased to see a brand like L’Oréal Paris out in front of emerging virtual shopping trends that promise to blur the lines between traditional outdoor advertising, traditional brick and mortar retail and e-tailing,” Jeffrey Rosen, the MTA Director of Real Estate, said in a statement.
While this isn’t the first beauty vending machine to exist (Benefit, 3FOZ and Sephora all have taken a similar approach), it's the first to go underground. And, considering we’ve all been caught touching up on the subway, we’re hoping this is just the start.
