The Bond & Beautiful: Copy Halle Berry's A-List Oscar Look
Halle Berry introduced the James Bond tribute at last night’s Academy Award ceremony by saying, “Bond music is a genre, all its own. Guaranteed to make your heart beat faster and take your breath away.”
Clearly, she was referring as much to Bond girls as she was to Bond music — and, to the same effect, her custom-made Atelier Versace gown.
Straying from the ultra-sheer burgundy Elie Saab dress she donned back in 2002, Berry chose a more conservative number that featured long sleeves and covered … well, most of her body. But that doesn’t mean she was hiding anything — the metallic gown couldn’t have shaped her (insane) 46-year-old body any better.
With such an intricate, striking dress, you don’t need much makeup. That’s why CHANEL makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua kept Berry’s look “casual and tonal, yet still glamorous.” Bua focused on the eyes, adding some shimmer for dimension, and kept in tune with the theme of the night’s look: James Bond.
